Volunteer at St.Audeon's Homework Club!
This entails helping primary school children with their homework. The children are encouraged by the volunteers to do their best. It is important to show them your utmost attention and to praise them for little tasks achieved. For many reasons, they may not receive the attention needed at home to do their work, it is our job to make them feel worthwhile and special. Do not panic if your grammar or maths are not up to speed, all we need is for the children to get in to a routine of sitting down and focusing on their work.
It's important to show a balance between work and play. Once the homework is done you can play in the yard with the children.The yard is great! It has a dance corner, basketballcourt and monkey swings!! I think a lot of us missed out. The Homework Club is a great way to spend your breaks in college, you can really see the children truly appreciate your company. I personally found volunteering at St.Audeon's very rewarding.
